Pubic Hair Dyes
The Mystery of Pubic Hair Colors
Many people wonder why pubic hair color doesn’t always match a person’s hair color. Many times I’ve heard questions like “do red headed people have red hair down there?” or “do natural blondes have blonde pubic hair?” and stuff like that. Well, the answer to that is pretty simple; it depends on mainly three things: genetic predisposition, melanin concentration and external factors.
- Genes - Genes determine the probabilities of having a certain hair color in the pubic area, as they determine most human features. Just like the hair on your head, it can be inherited from your parents, or from your grandparents, but also can be quite different (although the chance for this is really low).
- Melanin Concentration – Melanin is an element in charge of determining hair and skin colors. Melanin is distributed unevenly through the body, which means that people may have more melanin in certain parts of the body than in others. Particularly, there are two types of melanin, one “darker” than the other. The combination of these two determines pubic hair color, as well as beard color and chest hair color in men. The irregular distribution of these two types of melanin makes it possible to have a pubic hair color different than the hair color on the head.
- External factors – Several physical factors affect your hair color. For instance, the sun bleaches hair with time. Being less exposed to external factors like the sun, pubic hair color tends to be darker.
Pubic Hair Coloring
Dying your pubic hair can be really fun. Many people choose to do it for different reasons: some of them like to match their pubic hair color to their hair color; others just dye their pubic hair as a condiment to an “hot action” night.
Regardless of the reason, it should always be kept in mind that dying your pubic hair requires a product specifically designed for that, as regular dyes won’t do any good to that area. Regular dyes usually take more time and are much more harmful to the skin, since they are designed to work on the scalp and not on more sensitive skin areas.
A great line of dying products designed specifically for that area of your body is the Betty line. Nancy Jarecki, the creator of Betty, came out with the amazing idea of creating a home coloring kit for pubic hair while she was in a hair salon in Rome, after noticing that some of the ladies there secretly asked their hair stylists for something, and then they went home with this “secret something” in a paper bag. After asking, Nancy was told that the paper bags contained something “for the hair down there”. She thought that was a brilliant idea, and then founded her cosmetics company, “Betty”. Betty has a complete line of home pubic hair dying kits, with full six colors to choose from, and is the first company dedicated to such a wonderful product.
